An Uncommon Opportunity

Jenn Turner's picture

Bucketworks, the world’s first health club for the brain, is responding to the challenge of the current economic times. In partnership with other businesses and non-profits, an effort is on the way to create hundreds of new opportunities for unemployed workers.

The world is rapidly shifting to a knowledge economy, and Bucketworks helps people to become proficient as knowledge workers. A combination of formal training and hands on practice in real business settings allows the program to be free and self-funded, while ensuring high quality learning.

The business partners in this program benefit from high quality rapid business analysis and improvement at the fraction of the cost of
traditional consulting.

The participants receive top notch experience at the forefront of innovative business practice development through the Bucket Brigade, a
professional services network providing social, educational, and cultural media design and transformation to a variety of organizational
clients both locally and nationally.

Participants also get the benefit of a Bucketworks Pro membership, including full use Bucketworks facilities, such as the FlowSpace, a
meeting and collaboration environment; the Entrepreneur’s Greenhouse, a co-working business environment; the FabLab, a hands on project
environment; the PlaySpace, an infinitely customizable performance environment; and the Café, a social gathering environment to launch
their success.

Anyone who is currently unemployed or severely underemployed can stop at Bucketworks any Friday between 2 and 4 pm for an on-the-spot
interview.

Pass it along!

It's time for the Web414 Show again!

Wow, we must say, the response has been overwhelming from "yeah, I like it" to "it's cool" and even "I didn't fall asleep" we're just stacking up the kudos (bars) from the audiences at The Web414 Show.... and you're in luck, as we'll be taping a new episode this week Thursday, June 11th, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the World Famous Bucketworks Flowspace...

If you're interested in being a part of the studio audience, you need to be able to clap on demand, and laugh at HeyGabe's jokes... OK, well, just clap on demand then.

See you Thursday! http://web414.com/node/870

Volunteers au Lait

You has it. You know it. You wonder what sort of magical life those hipsters working behind the counter at your favorite coffee shop live. We're here to tell you. It is magical. It's everything you ever dreamed it could be, only cooler. Imagine your happiest day and add some bacon.

So, we're going to let you in a little secret, ok? This is just between you and me. You want to make a difference? Be a Quasi~Cafe barista. That's the stuff.

You're into it right? You want to know more, right? We're not going to lie to you. It's not easy. You have no idea how exhausting carrying around metric tons of awesome is. That's where you come in.

Honest? You know you are. Hardworking? You better believe it. Friendly? Positively endearing. Older ladies blush at how unabashedly nice you are. You're Quasi~Cafe material, and you know it.

Listen, real baristas work the espresso machine for the love of the bean, but remember there's the opportunity for paid positions down the road.

Balancing Act - James Carlson

raster's picture

I've been working on a documentary film titled "Balancing Act" since the spring of 2008. Most of the work so far has been in shooting, but I'd like to start putting out some promos, or bits and pieces of the footage I've found interesting.

In this short clip, James Carlson, Executive Director of Bucketworks, talks about where the idea for Bucketworks came from.

(You can find out more about the film at: balancingactfilm.com This video is published under a Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial No Derivative License.)

Laptops donated for Wikibots

Tronathan's picture

Big thanks to Qonsort Corp for donating 2 Toshiba laptops to Bucketworks!  We have used these laptops to create Wikibots, which are mobile recording platforms that we use to communicate physical-space ideas in virtual space.
You may have seen the Wikibots at Photocamp last weekend, where they were streaming content to the internet and recording time-lapse video at 1fps!  Output from the 'bots will be available soon.
