Theatre @ Bucketworks Update

Greetings!

The
Bucketworks Theatre Program has been busy finding its feet in the new Bucketworks environment. Already, our theatre group members have been busy producing a multitude of shows:

  • OlsenArts Theater Group (www.olsenartstheatergroup.com)
christened our new space with a production of PEACE ON EARTH, a
    Christmas play
  • Quasi-Productions (www.quasi-productions.com) had a critically-acclaimed production of Romulus Linney's HOLY GHOSTS
    • "Director Tom Reed has assembled a strong and veteran
cast of actors for this large ensemble piece. The excellence of Gray's
performance is found in her ability to convincingly portray conflicting
traits in her feelings and dealings with her husband." -- Damien
      Jacques, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Arson Etiquette Dance Company will be premiering PYROMANCY in April along with a series of classes

Also, we welcome some new faces:

  • Mark Hooker's Spiral Theatre Company
(www.spiraltheatre.com) has joined Bucketworks and will soon debut
their production of YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY, accompanied by performances
by London's Shamlessboyz Theatre Company of STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI.
  • Think Tank Sketch Comedy (www.thinktankcomedy.com)
of Chicago will be holding a one-night-only Milwaukee performance also
    in April

Additionally, the remainder of the
spring and summer will be marked by the return to Bucketworks of
Primary Colours Theatre and others.

With
these exciting programs by our resident groups, we're also beginning to develop some programs that all of our members can participate in. The
cornerstone of the revived Bucketworks Theatre Program will be the
Floating Repertory Ensemble, which is the brainchild of Bucketworks
Professional Member Peter Mortensen. Peter has written an open letter
to explain this concept, which you can read by visiting
http://www.bucketworks.org/node/37. Floating Rep is aimed to
allow anyone who wants to the chance to truly OWN a part of a
theatrical production. Based on curiousity, courage, collaboration and
passion for exploring everything that goes into the creation of the
theatrical event, Floating Rep seeks to provide theatre artists from
all disciplines with a safe place to stretch their artistic muscles,
and an outlet for creation - "a health club for the theatre worker" -
which fits in nicely with the rest of the goings-on here at
Bucketworks. If Floating Rep sounds like something that you might want
to participate in, please visit this link --

-- which will give you access to our Interest Form. You can also
contact Peter at FloatingRep@bucketworks.org for more information.

And
we're definitely not done developing ideas for this important part of
the Bucketworks community. Please let me know how you want to help grow
the Theatre Program: what projects you might want to do, what skills
you might want to learn, what kinds of people you might want to meet. I
look forward to hearing your suggestions!

Most sincerely,

Patrick G.H. Schley
